EXPECT RESPECT / CAREER CRUISING

In support of our mission: CREATING THE CONDITIONS TO MAKE OUR WORLD BETTER, Preston Middle School is implementing a social-emotional learning program called Expect Respect.  Expect Respect consists of four core lessons that teachers will be presenting throughout the  school year.  Expect Respect focuses on social climate and teaches students the core values of respect, safety, and responsibility.

As a Pre-Advanced Placement (AP) school, Preston’s accelerated math, honors, and science courses prepare students be successful in the high school AP curriculum. Preston’s focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) provides students with relevant opportunities to compete in a global world. These core academics are balanced with other choices in electives, the arts, and athletics to ensure a whole child approach to learning. Preston students may participate in jazz choir, writing club, MathCounts, drama productions, outdoor club, First Robotics, science fair, book club, biotechnology, flight simulation, gifted and talented options, and more. Support from parents and community has contributed to
Preston students’ high level of success in First Lego League and Science Olympiad.

Preston Middle School provides extensive opportunity in the realm of the arts by supporting the department with use of technology, facility, and representation. Preston has a variety of art classes from photography, jewelry, pottery and sculpture, painting, crafts, and art one. In these classes the students learn from day one the importance of art within their daily lives. The classroom has a plethora of resources from a documentation station, 3D printer, pottery kiln, and glass kiln. The art room has six tables with shelving and storage surrounding the room. The class atmosphere promotes growth by allowing students a two week window to revise work. With its resources and close community Preston provides a family atmosphere for their students.
